What Does Rainbow Luck Roll? 12 Top Tier Passives and the Real Trigger Odds
A fixed pool of twelve Rank 4 passives, one independent roll per catch, and only four effigies in the world.
Intro: the "good" the game never defines
Offer a to the and you unlock a bonus called Rainbow Luck. Its in-game description is a single line: you'll acquire good passives more easily. But what counts as "good"? A random pick from every passive in the game, or a fixed shortlist? The description never says, so players are left guessing from feel.
In reality, the mechanic is fixed and fully quantifiable:
- Trigger: rolled once per wild Pal capture, and once each time you fish up a Pal.
- Odds: effigy level × 1% (4% at max level).
- Pool: a fixed set of 12, all Rank 4 top tier affixes, equally weighted.
- Condition: the target Pal must have fewer than 4 passive slots filled, and must not already hold the drawn passive.
In other words, this is not a vague "raise overall passive quality" buff. It's an independent extra roll that injects one passive from a curated pool. This guide lays out the full trigger checks, the 12 passive pool, and where to find all four effigies.
1. The Complete Trigger Checks, in Order
Each time the game rolls a capture or fishing catch, it runs these checks in order:
| Step | Check | If it fails |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Target Pal has fewer than 4 passives | Abort (slots full) |
| 2 | The Pal currently holds none of the 12 Rainbow pool passives | Abort (already has a Rainbow passive) |
| 3 | One probability roll, hit chance = effigy level × 1% | Abort on a miss |
| 4 | Draw 1 passive from the pool at equal weight and place it in an empty slot |
2. The Rainbow Pool: a Fixed 12
In the normal passive lottery these 12 carry a weight of just 5 (ordinary passives sit at 100), so you'll almost never see them on wild Pals. Rainbow Luck pulls them into a separate, equally weighted pool:
Attack +30% Defense +5%
Defense +30% Immune to Flinch Immune to Knockback
Work Speed +75%
30% increase to movement speed.
Max stamina +75% *This effect is only valid for rideable pals.
50% increase movement speed on water.
SAN drops +20.0% slower.
Hunger decreases +20.0% slower.
Absorbs 5% of damage dealt and restores Health. Does not sleep at night and continues to work.
Mounted Jump Count +1
Drop Items obtained from this Pal +100%
Farming's Work Suitability +2
All 12 are equally weighted: each single draw hits at 8.33% (1/12).
