Palworld Salvage Guide: Who Can Salvage, All 2,949 Points & Reward Pools

Water element OR swim type mount. Far looser than the in-game hint.

2,949 Salvage Points21 Eligible MountsRank 1/2 Reward Pools

Equip a fishing rod, ride a mount, hold the interact key near a salvage point on the sea, and you can pull up Giant Pal Soul, Ultimate Sphere, Coralum Ore, Pal Reverser, and rare schematics like Advanced Fishing Rod (Depresso) Schematic. But who can actually salvage does not match the in-game hint: you do not need a swim mount, the Water element alone is enough. This guide covers the complete eligibility rules, all 21 eligible mounts, the reward pools, and efficiency tips.

Mechanics at a Glance

  • Salvage points only appear on water. There are 2,949 across the map, split into two tiers: Rank 1 and Rank 2.
  • You need a fishing rod equipped and must be riding a mount. Hold the interact key near a salvage point to pull items up.
  • When the riding check fails, the game tells you to ride a water Pal. The real check is looser than that message.

Who Can Salvage: the Real Rules

In-Game Hint vs the Actual Check

The hint says ride a water Pal, but the actual internal check is an OR of two rules:

  • Water element route: the ridden Pal's elements include Water.
  • Swim mount route: the ridden Pal belongs to the game's internal water traversal type (a swim mount).

Water-element flying mounts can salvage: hover above the sea on Suzaku Aqua, Faleris Aqua or Panthalus and pull items up. This is the most easily overlooked group.

Water-element land mounts also qualify: land mounts like Broncherry Aqua and Blue Slime, plus the amphibious Ophydia and Relaxaurus.

Non-water swim mounts can salvage too: Azurobe Cryst and Whalaska Ignis have no Water element at all, yet they pass via the second route.

How to tell whether a mount is swim-type Check its partner skill description. Swim mounts always say you can ride it to move on water; land mounts (including amphibious swimmers) only say move; flyers say fly through the air. Open the Pal's details page in game to verify.

The Full List of Eligible Mounts (21)

Group A: pure Water element qualifies (not swim-type, 10)

The amphibious mounts in Group A qualify on element alone; their partner skill text says a generic move, not move on water.

Borderline Counterexamples: These Cannot Salvage

What the check ignores matters just as much:

Amphibious land mounts are not swim mounts: Chillet swims fast but is neither swim-type nor Water, and is verified unable to salvage in game. Polapup Terra and Rainbow Slime are the same case.

Salvage Points & Rewards

Point Distribution

All 2,949 salvage points sit on water, in two tiers. The map tool includes every point with rank filters:

Reward Pools

Each pull rolls 5 independent slots. Items within a slot are mutually exclusive, and a slot whose probabilities sum below 100% may drop nothing. These pools match the salvage card in the drops tool:

Every Rank 2 pull guarantees 6~11 Coralum Ore, with about 44% chance of Giant Pal Soul and 22% of Ultimate Sphere: this is the core of daily salvage income. Each gold-grade schematic in the Rank 2 pool is only 0.007%~2.6%; treat them as long-term surprises rather than targets.

Efficiency Tips

Drop boost: the partner skill of Jellroy increases salvage drops by 55%~95% depending on skill level, and only one copy counts. See the drop boost Pals guide for details.

Travel speed: for water routes, use a fast swim mount. See the water section of the mount speed rankings.

FAQ

Why can't I salvage while riding Chillet? It swims fast.

Fast swimming does not make it a swim-type mount. It is a land (amphibious) mount without the Water element, so both routes fail.

Can a non-rideable Water-element Pal salvage?

No. The check targets the Pal you are currently riding; simply being in the party does not count.
