Predator Pals: 4% Spawn Overlay, 43 Species & the Core Economy
No fixed spawns. A 4% random overlay decides every encounter.
Why the old map tool's predator layer disappeared
For a long time, community guides claimed that each predator Pal (ravager form) spawned at a fixed coordinate. The early map tool even had a dedicated predator layer. In the v0.73 era those coordinates were correct: predator Pals really did spawn at fixed points.
But v1.0 replaced the mechanism with a random overlay. Every old coordinate stopped working after the upgrade, and the map layer was removed. Deep inspection of the current build's spawn configuration confirms: predator Pals no longer have any fixed spawn point. They are a 4% random overlay, similar to the 0.1% shiny Pal odds but roughly 40× more frequent. That is why every v0.73 'fixed coordinate' fails to reproduce in 1.0.
This guide covers the endgame economy built around the Predator Core, the spawn mechanism, all 43 wild predator species, and the 5 guaranteed encounters from 3 questlines.
The Predator Core economy: 10 player-stat elixirs
Defeating a predator drops an Predator Core. It is the bottleneck material for all 10 player-stat elixir recipes, the game's endgame player-progression path (separate from Pal progression via skill fruits, IVs, and passives).
5 attributes (HP, Stamina, Attack, Work Speed, Carry Weight) × 2 tiers = 10 recipes. All crafted at the Ancient Workbench.
| Attribute | Tier | Product | Per-bottle effect | Materials | Work cost |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| HP | Tier 1 (Remedy) | Vital Remedy | +100 Max HP | ×4+×1 | 50,000 |
| HP | Tier 2 (Elixir) | Vital Elixir | +200 Max HP | ×6+×2 | 100,000 |
| Stamina | Tier 1 (Remedy) | Stamina Remedy | +10 Max Stamina | ×4+×1 | 50,000 |
| Stamina | Tier 2 (Elixir) | Stamina Elixir | +20 Max Stamina | ×6+×2 | 100,000 |

Spawn mechanism
| Property | Value / notes |
|---|---|
| Random overlay chance | 4% |
| For comparison: shiny Pal | 0.1% |
| Fixed spawn points | Zero in 1.0. v0.73 had them; removed in 1.0 when the overlay replaced fixed spawns. |
| Toggle | The Predator Pals option in world settings. |
Each time the game rolls a wild Pal spawn, it first picks a species from the normal wild pool, then has a 4% chance to overlay the predator version on top. So:
- You can encounter a predator anywhere a normal wild Pal can spawn, just at 4% odds.
- There is no coordinate to camp. The only way to raise your odds is to roll more often (re-entering zones, resetting after a kill, and so on).
- All v0.73 fixed coordinates are dead in 1.0. That is why the old map tool's layer was removed.
Field identification
How do you tell at a glance whether a Pal is a predator? Two obvious tells:
- Boss HP bar: a boss bar appears at the top of the screen.
- Red glow: an obvious red aura surrounds the body.

5 quest predators (3 questlines)
If you don't want to gamble on the 4% random chance, the 3 questlines hand you 5 guaranteed encounters. Two of them (Flopie and Silvegis) are quest-exclusive species that can only be found through their quests.

Trigger NPCs
Fia, Gadel, or Cara: any of the 3 surveyor NPCs starts the line. Steps 03 and 04 are not predator fights (03 is a medicine delivery, 04 resolves a rogue surveyor). It is a late-game questline.
Harold: a moral-choice storyline. Step 01 can be captured then released. Both branches (kill line / release line) complete normally.
A wounded Kitsun Noct triggers it. Step 01 is a rescue chain (cure, feed, check inventory); completing 01 auto-orders step 02, which is the Jormuntide Ignis kill.
