Ranch Production Mechanics: Interval Formula, 4 Factors & Drop Table

The ranch is a building that periodically drops materials as long as a Pal is placed inside. This guide lays out the full interval formula, the four acceleration factors, the 10-level drop-table mechanic, and data for all 29 ranch Pals.

Introduction: The Ranch That Lasts the Whole Game

The ranch is not a transitional building for some early phase. From the moment you first build one to the endgame, it keeps producing what you need. The only thing that changes is what you need at each stage.

Early game, the ranch provides basic materials: Wool ( Lamball / Melpaca / Cremis) for Cloth and armor, Flame Organs, Ice Organs, Electric Organs, Venom Glands, Aquatic Pal Fluids for weapons, gear, and buildings. Vixy drops Pal Spheres and Arrows, while Mau produces Gold Coins.

Mid game, High Quality Pal Oil ( Dumud / Dumud Gild) becomes a key crafting material. You also start breeding, making cake a necessity. Eggs, Milk, Cotton Candy, Caramel Cotton Candy, and Honey all come from the ranch.

Mid to late game, the 5 cake types serve different breeding functions. Each one requires at least one ranch exclusive material that cannot be purchased from any merchant:

Bold materials cannot be purchased from any merchant and can only be obtained from the ranch. † Cave Mushrooms can be purchased but the merchant stock only unlocks in the mid to late game. This makes Beegarde ( Honey), Woolipop ( Cotton Candy), and Woolipop Terra ( Caramel Cotton Candy) three irreplaceable permanent ranch members for endgame breeding.

All eggs have a 1% base mutation trigger rate (independent of parent combinations). Only the Extravagant Vegetable Cake can boost this probability (+2% → total 3%). The Vegetable Cake produces 2 eggs at once, yielding more mutations than regular cake. Mutated offspring have IVs locked at 90~100, come with BOSS size, and 2-star condensation. 29 Pals can be assigned to the ranch, covering a wide range of outputs (filter by "Ranch" in the Paldex to see them all). But the ranch runs on a timer model, not a progress bar model like HandiworkHandiwork that advances through Work Speed:

RanchRanch suitability level does not participate in interval calculation. It only affects the drop table. After condensation rank ups or using books, your RanchRanch work suitability increases, raising the mathematical expectation of output quantity per cycle. Your per-unit-time yield does go up. But the production interval itself stays completely unchanged. The four factors that can shorten the interval are passive skills, food, SAN and Fullness, and Pal Souls.

In other words: to produce faster, set up passives and feed food. To increase the quantity per drop, raise the suitability level. These two paths do not interfere with each other.

1. The Four Step Cycle

Ranch production is an infinite loop, with four steps per cycle:

  1. Timer — Each cycle randomly draws an interval between 50–80 seconds (independent each cycle)
  2. Multiplier chain division — Net interval = drawn value ÷ multiplier chain, where the multiplier chain is the product of 4 factors (see Section 2)
  3. Weighted lottery — From the drop table for that Pal's current RanchRanch level, selects 1 item by weight, then randomly determines quantity N within the min to max range
  4. Sequential output — Loops N times, producing 1 item each time, with each drop animation lasting about 6 seconds

Steps 1 through 3 determine frequency and item selection. Step 4 is the actual drop. This means when quantity N is large (for example, a high level dropping 10 at once), the animations alone take about 60 seconds.

Let us walk through an example using Lamball.

Lamball only drops one item, with quantity scaling by level (the lower bound also rises at Lv9–10). Multi-item Pals (like Vixy) also unlock new items at higher levels. See Section 4 for details.

Walking through the four step cycle (using Lv10, full SAN, no passives as an example):

  1. Timer — Randomly draws an interval, for example 65 seconds
  2. Multiplier chain division — Multiplier chain = 1.0 (no passive/food/SAN bonuses), net interval = 65 seconds
  3. Weighted lottery Wool at 100% (Lamball only has this entry), quantity range 3–10, randomly picks for example 7
  4. Sequential output — N=7, Lamball drops 7 Wool one by one, each animation about 6 seconds, totaling about 42 seconds

2. Production Interval: Four Acceleration Factors

Base Interval

The base interval for each production cycle is uniformly randomized between 50–80 seconds. This means even without any acceleration factors, the average interval is 65 seconds (about one minute per cycle).

Multiplier Chain Formula

Net interval = Base interval [50–80s] ÷ Multiplier chain

Multiplier chain = (1 + Σ passive bonuses%) × Π food bonuses × SAN/Fullness factor × Pal Soul factor

The four factors are each independent and all multiply together. When the multiplier chain is greater than 1.0, the interval shortens (faster output). When less than 1.0, the interval lengthens (slower output).

Negative passives also take effect, with no floor. Negative Work Speed traits (Destructive -50%, Slacker -30%, etc.) push the multiplier chain below 1.0, stretching the interval. Community testing shows that ranch Pals loaded with multiple negative passives produce so slowly that "four Pals can't match one normal Pal." The ranch is not a "bonuses only" safe zone. Avoid negative traits when setting up passives.

Factor 1: Passive Skills (Additive Bucket)

Passive traits of the same category are additive, not multiplicative.

  • Example: Diligent (+20%) + Workaholic (+50%) = (1 + 0.20 + 0.50) = 1.70×, not 1.20 × 1.50 = 1.80×.
  • Three top tier (Demon's Hand + Artisan + Workaholic) = (1 + 0.90 + 0.75 + 0.50) = 3.15×.

Factor 2: Food (Multiplicative Bucket)

Food is an independent multiplicative bucket. The key distinction is that passives are additive among themselves, while foods are multiplicative among themselves. In theory, each food consumed adds an independent multiplier. But in game, only one food buff takes effect at a time (eating a new one overwrites the previous), so in practice this factor caps at a single food bonus.

  • In practice: only one takes effect at a time. Eating only Salad = 1.30×, eating only Pizza = 1.30×.
  • In theory (stacking multiplicatively): Salad + Pizza = 1.30 × 1.30 = 1.69×, but eating the second food overwrites the first in game, so this is unreachable.
Strange Juice's 5x speed boost looks tempting, but after 10 seconds your SAN crashes (SAN -50000). The side effects are too severe. There is essentially no practical scenario where you can afford this cost, making it completely useless for the ranch.

Factor 3: SAN and Fullness

When a Pal's SAN (Sanity) and Fullness drop below certain thresholds, the production interval slows down. This factor applies to all work types, and the ranch is no exception.

  • SAN/Fullness healthy: factor = 1.0 (no effect)
  • SAN below threshold: factor < 1.0 (interval slows)
  • Fullness depleted: factor < 1.0 (interval slows)

Pals working at the ranch do not lose SAN the way HandiworkHandiwork Pals do, but a Pal's natural hunger decay still applies.

Factor 4: Pal Soul Enhancement

Pal Soul enhancement is an independent multiplier bucket. Each level adds +3%, with max enhancement (level 20) at +60%.

  • Factor = enhancement count × 0.03 + 1.0
  • Max enhancement = 20 × 0.03 + 1.0 = 1.60×

This factor participates in the ranch interval division, just as effective as passives and food.

Combined Multiplier Effect

The multiplier chain for a fully equipped ranch Pal:

The average interval drops from 65 seconds to 65 ÷ 6.55 ≈ 9.9 seconds, roughly 10 seconds per cycle.

Warning: This is the timer interval, not the complete cycle. The complete cycle = timer wait + output animation. Each drop animation takes about 6 seconds, and the timer does not tick during animations (the state machine switches from "waiting" to "outputting," pausing the timer). Setting up passives only optimizes the waiting portion and has no effect on animations.

Throughput multiplier math: Assume a single drop of N items. No-passive cycle = 65 + 6N seconds, fully equipped cycle = 10 + 6N seconds, throughput multiplier = (65 + 6N) ÷ (10 + 6N). Plugging in different N values:

You can see that the larger N is, the smaller the benefit from passives. As N approaches infinity, the multiplier approaches 1.0 (animations completely eat the gain). So early game, low level Pals benefit the most from passives. By the Lv10 high output stage, stacking passives has sharply diminishing returns.

3. The Work Speed Exception

Other Work Types: Progress Bar (Passives Amplify Base Speed)

HandiworkHandiwork, MiningMining, LumberingLumbering, GatheringGathering, WateringWatering, KindlingKindling, and all other non-ranch work types are "progress bar" types: the server checks work progress at regular intervals, advances a progress bar by some amount, and produces output when the bar is full.

Work suitability level directly determines the base speed core value (Handiwork Lv1 = 50, Lv10 = 5400, a 108x difference). Passive traits, food, Pal Souls, and other bonuses all multiply on top of the base speed, amplifying the effective speed. So for other work types:

  • Raising suitability level → base speed increases → progress bar fills faster with the same passives
  • Adding passive traits → further amplifies base speed → even faster

Both paths are effective, and they multiply together.

Ranch: Division Type (Passives Go Into the Divisor, Base Speed Is Skipped)

The ranch uses a completely different "timer division" model:

Net interval = Base interval [50–80s] ÷ (passives × food × SAN × Pal Soul)

Notice that the divisor contains only 4 factors, with no base speed. The base speed values corresponding to RanchRanch suitability level (Lv1 = 12, Lv4 = 18, Lv6 = 22, Lv10 = 30) are completely skipped and do not enter this division.

In other words:

Why Is It Designed This Way?

From a game design perspective, this is likely intentional. Compare how other work types' base speed spans hundreds of times across levels (HandiworkHandiwork Lv1 50 → Lv10 5400, a 108x gap). The ranch RanchRanch values only range from 12–30, a very conservative spread (less than 3x). Even if they participated in the calculation, they would not create a meaningful difference. In other words, this value may never have been intended for use from the start. Of course, it might serve some other purpose that we have not yet found evidence for.

4. Products: Drop Table Mechanics

Drop Table: Indexed by RanchRanch Level

Each ranch Pal has a drop table divided into 10 levels (Lv1–Lv10) by RanchRanch suitability level. Products may differ at each level, typically with higher quantities or better items unlocked.

For example, Lamball:

  • Lv1: Wool ×1 (100%)
  • Lv4: Wool ×1–2
  • Lv10: Wool ×3–10

Key distinction: RanchRanch level affects "what drops and how many," but not "how often" (the interval is controlled by the multiplier chain and is independent of RanchRanch level).

Per-Drop Mechanics

Each drop call produces 1 item type, but the quantity can be greater than 1 (randomly determined within that item's min to max range).

  • Item type: drawn by weight from the drop table entries (probability = weight ÷ total weight)
  • Item quantity: randomized within the selected item's min–max range

Take Vixy as an example. Lv1 only drops basic materials, while Lv10 unlocks 4 types of Pal Spheres:

At Lv1, nearly 60% of drops are Pal Spheres. At Lv10, Mega Spheres actually have the highest probability (32%). Quantities also increase significantly: Arrows go from 1 to 12–13, and Gold Coins go from 10 to 100.

Drop quantity is unrelated to Work Speed. Speed only affects "how often drops occur," not "what drops or how many." But quantity N determines the actual output time: N items drop one by one, each animation lasting about 6 seconds. At N=10, the drop animations alone take about 60 seconds.

Condensation and Applied Ranching Handbook I

There are two paths to raising your RanchRanch level:

1. Applied Ranching Handbook I (directly +1 RanchRanch level)

Applied Ranching Handbook I directly adds +1 to a Pal's RanchRanch work suitability. This is the most direct upgrade method. Going from Lv1 to Lv6 requires 5 books.

2. Condensation rank up (indirect boost)

Condensation (fusing same-species Pals to raise their star rank) boosts the Pal's work suitability levels. See the condensation star rank work suitability bonus rules for exactly which stat each star rank increases. After ranking up, the RanchRanch level may increase, moving you to a higher row in the drop table.

The dual effect of condensation: After condensation raises your RanchRanch level, the drop table upgrades (products change), but the interval does not get faster, because base speed is skipped in the ranch interval calculation. The answer to "does condensation help at all?" is: yes for products, no for speed.

6. Summary

Two non-interfering paths:

  • Want to produce faster → Set up passives, feed food, enhance Pal Souls, maintain SAN/Fullness. These 4 factors multiply together into the interval divisor. Fully equipped at 6.55×, the average interval is about 10 seconds per cycle. RanchRanch level (the base Work Speed value) does not participate in interval calculation; raising the level has no effect on speed. (The +Work Speed % from passives still applies normally in the divisor.)
  • Want more output per cycle → Raise your RanchRanch level ( Applied Ranching Handbook I +1, or condensation rank ups), moving to a higher row in the drop table. But this does not accelerate the interval.

Two counterintuitive points to remember:

  • A Lv1 Pal with full passives and a Lv10 Pal with the same setup have exactly the same production interval.
  • Each drop animation takes about 6 seconds, and the timer does not tick during animations. The larger N is, the smaller the benefit from passives (4.44× at N=1, 1.79× at N=10). The cost effectiveness of stacking passives drops sharply at the high output stage. But with only 4 passive slots, and suitability being maxable through books and condensation, the endgame build is still to fill all 4 slots with Work Speed passives, leaving the limited slots for multipliers that cannot be obtained externally (see Section 7).

Choosing a Pal: Pick from the 29 ranch Pals by product type (see Section 5). For the same product, prefer higher RanchRanch level (higher base yield). The sole exception is Vixy, the only ranch Pal that produces Pal Spheres. At Lv10 it unlocks Mega Spheres / Giga Spheres / Hyper Sphere.

7. The Perfect Endgame Build

The prerequisite for a true endgame build is pushing your RanchRanch work suitability to Lv10. Any ranch Pal can reach the cap through 4★ condensation + 5× Applied Ranching Handbook I. Once maxed, the 4 passive slots are the only remaining optimization space.

Two fully equipped combos (both core on 3 Work Speed passives, the difference is the 4th slot):

  • Dark element Pals: Demon's Hand + Artisan + Workaholic + Corporate Slave (Dark element inherently has "no sleep at night," freeing the 4th slot for +30% Work Speed)
  • Other Pals: Demon's Hand + Artisan + Workaholic + Vampire/Nocturnal

Version Trap: Ranch Master / Lord of the Ranch

These two passives look like they are "made for the ranch," but they are actually traps:

  • Useless after maxing: Condensation + books will inevitably reach Lv10. Once capped, +1/+2 is wasted overflow.
  • Occupies precious passive slots: Filling 2 of your 4 slots with these means giving up at least Corporate Slave and Workaholic, two Work Speed bonuses.

They are only mildly useful during the transitional period before you have fully leveled up. In the late game they produce zero benefit (level 10 is the hard cap, not breakable). Avoid them entirely when setting up passives.


This article is based on in-game testing and data verification. The core conclusions (the base Work Speed value being skipped, the 4-factor interval division, and the 10-level drop table index) have all been empirically confirmed.
